As an Educator, How Conscious Are You???
Have you ever questioned how consciously aware you are as an educator. I have, and I don't think that I'm alone when it comes to this type of reflection. It is for this reason that I have created this fun little quiz.

Can your personal views and expectations of a student can directly influence your students success
A. Yes, because they will see themselves in you.
B. Yes, because it will consciously and unconsciously influence how you act toward this student.
C. No just because I have these views and expectations doesn't mean I'll treat them differently.
D. Maybe, but I'm not too sure of why.

When teaching your students and lesson planning do you think about your student's social class, race, gender and religion?
A. No, I just teach the lesson on a broad-spectrum.
B. No, I do not feel like I have enough knowledge in these subject areas and am afraid to teach something wrong.
C. Yes, sometimes if I find curriculum that covers it.
D. Yes, I try to teach an all-inclusive classroom where we learn and celebrate everyone.

B. Yes, it's completely natural but I try to stay conscious and proactive about it.

B. Me, the teacher of course, if not it would be complete chaos.
C. The administrator, I just deliver the content.
D. Everyone, there is a mutual balance between my students and I.

Does my emotional awareness and well-being directly affect my students?
A. No, emotions and social cues are a very personal thing that is not directly related to anyone else around you.
B. Yes, but my students should know better than to react off my emotions.
C. Yes, in order to teach and honor their emotions I need to be aware of my own. I need to be able to teach them about their emotions and be a model for them to know how to address their own feelings, and social cues.
D. No, student don't care enough about their teachers to even notice that we have emotions.

When do teachers burn out?
A. Only once in your teaching career.
B. When you are really old and have been teaching to long,
C. When you are weak and not strong enough to teach in the educational field.
D. It can happen anytime in your teaching career, sometimes even multiple times it is natural, preventable and very serious.

I take time to reflect on my teaching and the influence I have on my students.
A. I take time for reflection often throughout the year. It helps me to pinpoint my areas of growth.
B. I used to reflect on my teaching and influence but now that I have been teaching for years I don't see the point.
C. I reflect on my teaching, but I do not feel like I have a direct influence on my students.
D. I make sure that I execute everything perfectly so that I don't have to reflect.
